2020 Spring Conference Student Poster & Paper Competition

Call for Papers or Posters

Students who are invited to participate in an oral or poster presentation to be held in association with the AWRA 2020 Geospatial Water Technology Conference: Complex Systems. This competition is separate from other awards and scholarship programs of AWRA.

Presentation Requirements

• Students in undergraduate and graduate (masters and Ph.D. levels) programs and who qualify for an AWRA Student Membership are encouraged to submit abstracts. Presentations can describe collaborative research carried out by multiple authors (including non-students) but must be presented by a student.
• Abstracts must be submitted via the form on AWRA’s online portal. 

Students who present a paper or poster in the competition will be provided a one-year AWRA student membership for free. Student membership includes 35% discount on all Wiley Books; memberships on technical committees; access to all issues of the Journal of the American Water Resources (JAWRA); free registration to AWRA Webinars; discounts at conferences; and eligibility to compete for several scholarships totaling over $7,000 (great accomplishment to list on your Resume!!).

Acceptance notification will be made via email to the presenting student. All conference attendees, including presenters, must pay the conference registration fee.

Winners of the competition will be notified after the Conference.

Cancellation Policy

Before submitting an abstract, authors should be confident that they will have funding to pay the registration fee, attend the meeting, and make the presentation. If the presenter finds he/she can't attend, then they should attempt to find another person to make the presentation. Late cancellations and failures to give scheduled presentations are disruptive and leave gaps in the program that are distracting to all attendees. If cancellation is unavoidable, the presenter should notify Venkatesh Merwade.
