Welcome Attendees!
We are glad you are joining us for the 2021 AWRA Virtual Annual Water Resources
Conference. The Conference we have prepared for you upholds our long commitment to outstanding
technical content and unparalleled opportunities for Community, Conversation, and Connections that are
the hallmark of AWRA meetings. We are really excited about some of
our innovations using Zoom Meeting to conduct this conference, and hope to take advantage of some features and opportunities the virtual world offers.
We recognize there are some ways in which talking to your peers face-to-face just can’t be replicated, and
we join you in anticipating a return to those meetings when it is safe for all our health to do just that. AWRA will be holding two in-person conferences in the spring and each will have health and safety protocols to follow to ensure we can gather together securely. In the
meantime, this year’s Annual Conference is both a stand-in for our usual rewarding meetings and an opportunity for AWRA to have another successful virtual conference.
Please, make it a point to actively engage – the enormous power of our gatherings is the chance to take
with you as much as you put in. We hope to retain some of these into the future, and look forward to
hearing from you about which of our innovations succeeded, which could benefit from some
improvements, and which we should never again touch with a 10-foot barge pole. We hope you will reach
out early and often to the Conference organizers, your AWRA officers and staff, the knowledgeable
speaker-presenters, our corporate sponsors and exhibitors, and to one another among the attendees – let
us know how it’s going, how we can help, and what you are gaining from the experience. It is bound to be
an adventure, and we are delighted you are joining us.
