The Henry P. Caulfield, Jr., Medal for Exemplary Contributions to National Water Policy

Given annually, or at such time as qualified candidates are identified and nominated, this award is given to an individual who has achieved a status of eminence in shaping national water policy.

Award Criteria

The individual chosen for this award must be one whose record of achievements in setting, designing, and/or implementing water resources policies at the national level is extraordinary. Written documentation must be provided to demonstrate that the performance was sustained over a period of time, and that the individual’s contributions to the wise use of the nation’s water resources were of an extraordinary nature. The individual nominated may have demonstrated these talents while associated with:
  1. a federal agency,
  2. the U.S. Congress,
  3. a national commission or committee,
  4. a Congressional staff, or
  5. a national water-oriented organization.

The field of expertise is not a deciding factor, the contribution to national water policy is.

Nomination Process

The nomination period is open through May 1, 2024. Nominations must be submitted using the online application via the AWRA portal. Recipients will be contacted and notified directly by May 24, 2024.
