2014 - AWRA Fishing Tournament Chesapeake Bay Mixed Bag Fishing

Sunday, Nov. 2
7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Cost: $ 165.00

The Chesapeake Bay is one of the most productive estuaries in the world. In the 1970's, the stresses of growth and development in its watershed impacted its health and long term prognosis. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the bay States (MD, PA, VA, DE and NY) sportsmen, resource managers, and legislators for the bay, the "tide has turned", and will one day hopefully be cited as one of the greatest conservation success stories of the century. There is no better way to gain appreciation for the national treasure than by spending a day plying its waters and experiencing its resources. The Chesapeake Bay is host to a variety of game fish species. Early fall fishing is a mixed bag approach targeting rockfish, spot, flounder, perch croaker, Spanish mackerel, and bluefish by live lining, bottom fishing, trolling, jigging and chumming. Departure will be from the docks in Deale, MD (south of Annapolis) at 8am with a return to the dock at 2pm. Upon return to the docks, fish will be cleaned and packaged before returning to the conference hotel (estimated return time 4pm). Trophies will be given for largest fish (Individual - either kept or released) and most fish caught (boat - kept and released), plus conference bragging rights. The trip will be aboard 48' Bay style charter boats with approximately 6 people to a boat ( license and tackle provided by the outfitter). Transportation to and from the conference hotel will be organized for those participating (7am departure). Snacks and drinks provided.
