AWRA Conference Luncheon

Charles B. (Charlie) Henry, Jr.
Director, NOAA Gulf of Mexico Disaster Response Center, Mobile, AL
This event is included in the Registration Fee. Come join your colleagues at the Conference Luncheon and listen to Charlie Henry, the first NOAA scientist to respond to the fire and explosion of the Deepwater Horizon Incident just a few hours after the tragedy began to unfold on the night of 20 April 2010. As the regional NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator, he was awakened by the USCG and asked to provide assistance. Such a request was not uncommon as the NOAA Scientific Support Coordinators are assigned this task and work directly with the United States Coast Guard during emergency activities in all U.S. coastal regions and navigable commercial waterways. As the true situation unfolded, the initial fire and explosion cost the lives of 11 offshore works and incident resulted in the largest oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It will be an informative and interesting talk not to be missed!
Additional tickets may be purchased on site at the AWRA Registration Desk. The cost for each additional ticket is $45.00.
