Call for Special Sessions

The Conference Planning Committee encourages “Special Sessions” for the June 2012 Riparian Conference. Those interested in organizing and hosting a “Special Session” are asked to submit the following information:

  • Title of proposed Special Session
  • An abstract (less than 350 words) stating the importance of the topic and the rationale for the proposed session
  • Identify organizer(s) including brief biography and contact information
  • List of potential presenters and topics for the session if available

Note:  The Conference Committee is particularly interested in Special Session proposals that would interest both the Contaminants of Emerging Concern audience and the Riparian audience.  Contaminants entering floodplains and streams and the fate of these contaminants are o special interest to both conference groups.

Submit session proposal information to Judy Okay, Technical Program Chair (judyannokay@gmail.com), by Jan. 6, 2012.  There is no fee to submit a proposal for a Special Session.  However, the abstracts of individual participants of the “Special Sessions” must be submitted in the general call for abstracts and the $25 fee applies to the individual abstracts.  Proposals/abstracts for all “Special Session” submissions will be evaluated by the Technical Program Chair and the Conference Planning Committee.  The “Special Sessions” abstracts will be subject to the same review process as all other abstracts.  Proposals will be evaluated based on timeliness and relevance, as well as the importance of the topic to key research and recent advances of the riparian resources community.

Venue: The shared location for this June 25-29 2012 event will be at the Sheraton Denver Downtown in Denver, Colorado, a vibrant city with abundant opportunities for fine dining, shopping, culture, recreation, and sports (yes, the Colorado Rockies will be in town that week). The Denver International Airport is approximately 23 miles from the hotel.
