Keeping You Connected

March 2008

I am putting the finishing touches of this issue of Connections while on a visit to my parent's home in (as they call it down here) the Low Country. The salt marshes Rachel Carson speaks of surround the island where my parents live.  Each time I visit, the beauty takes my breath away.  I know why they love it here.

I'll be kicked off the internet here soon, so I'll leave you with a couple of movie suggestions that were set here in coastal South Carolina:

Prince of Tides
(Streisand, 1991)

Daughters of the Dust
(Dash, 1991)

The Big Chill
(Kasdan, 1983)

Don't forget to check out AWRA's new Water Blog!

AWRA's Annual Water Resources Conference provides a multidisciplinary outlet for any subject related to water resources research, education, and management and, thus, is a forum for all participants in the water resources community.  Presentations on any topic related to water resources are solicited and are welcomed.  In addition, individuals and groups have the opportunity to propose and organize panel discussions or special sessions that consist of linked presentations on a particular topic.

The Conference will include:
  • oral and poster sessions
  • plenary speakers
  • panels
  • pre-conference field trips and short courses
  • networking events
  • student activities
Attendees will enjoy opportunities for conversations about the many multidisciplinary aspects of water resources, and to make connections that will improve their understanding of the complex water issues of importance not only to the southeastern United States but also to the nation and the world.
