USGS Open File Report 98-571

A CD containing Geographical Information System (GIS) data sets for the Pennsylvania Groundwater Protected Area (see location map) is available. The data sets were developed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) for the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) to assist in the assessment of water resources. The GIS data sets contain the following coverages:
 

basins	subbasin delineation
streams	stream locations
munic	municipal boundaries
detgeo	detailed geology
gengeo	general geology
flts_dks	fault and dike locations
wdl_cip	ground and surface water withdrawal quantities and locations for commercial, industrial and public users
dis_in	industrial discharge quantities and locations
dis_mun	municipal discharge quantities and locations
rchg_coin	recharge quantities and locations for commercial and industrial facilities.

 

In addition to the above GIS coverages, access database, excel .dbf and metadata files are included in the report. See the readme.txt file for a complete description of available files. Specific software, the Access database and ArcView from ESRI are required to view the CD-ROM.

Please note that all coverages are projected in UTM, zone 18 meter NAD 27, and that ground and surface water withdrawal data is for 1993. Updated information on ground and surface water withdrawal and on approximate water and sewer service area boundaries may be downloaded.
