Description
Industrial waste surveys are critical for safeguarding wastewater treatment plants by identifying and assessing potentially harmful substances entering the collection system. These surveys help utilities better understand the composition and volume of industrial effluent, which supports the implementation of appropriate treatment processes and preventative measures to maintain system performance and infrastructure integrity. Applicable to wastewater systems of all types and sizes, industrial waste surveys play a vital role in protecting water quality and preserving long-term environmental health for the communities served.
Learning Objectives
This presentation walks through the Industrial Waste Survey process from a regulatory and practical perspective, outlining how utilities identify, evaluate, and track industrial users within their collection system. Attendees will gain an understanding of how survey results are used to support pretreatment compliance, maintain an accurate industrial user inventory, and protect wastewater treatment plant operations over time.
