Student Chapters

AWRA is proud to be associated with more than 20 Student Chapters which provide on- and off-campus networking opportunities and events, as well as a place to explore and widen your view of water resources management. Many of the Student Chapters are closely linked to AWRA State Sections, which provide another layer of networking and potential mentorship. 

While associated with National AWRA, Student Chapters are their own entity. As such, membership in a student chapter does not include membership in the national AWRA or vice versa.  For more information and details on how to become a member, follow the website links of each Student Chapter below:

Get Involved at Your College or University

AWRA Student Chapters started in 1969 and are located throughout the United States. Learn how to start you chapter, connect with an existing chapter, and find tools and resources for your student chapter.

Three steps to start your student chapter:

1. Recruit students pursuing water resource management and related careers to join AWRA as student members.
2. Select a faculty or staff advisor from your college/university to support your group.
3. Communicate with the following to activate your chapter: 

• Your college/university student clubs/organization office
• Your local AWRA State Section if there is one
• Other AWRA Student Chapters to learn about their activities and programs
