Why Attend?
The conference seeks to bring together a diverse multi-disciplinary group of water professionals - to disseminate, share, and learn about research-based cutting-edge solutions to evaluate and address future water risks and improve how society can adapt to these risks. Technical session topics will include actionable science, evaluation, and planning methods, design and implementation of specific infrastructure projects, and design and implementation of programs and policies. As with other AWRA conferences, the conference seeks to present excellent networking opportunities and build an exciting conversation around actionable solutions that address and build resilience to future water risks to ensure a secure water future. Other proposed highlights include - multidisciplinary workshops focused on understanding future risks and proactive adaptation, field trips touring the National Water Center (NWC) and local water bodies, as well as opportunities for students to present their research and network with professionals from all fields of the water resources spectrum.
The conference location is on the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which also serves as the home of the National Water Center (NWC) and the future home of the USGS Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF). Eight hotels are located within two miles of the campus providing adequate lodging space for conference participants. Major airline service to Tuscaloosa is provided through the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, located approximately 60 miles from the city. A shuttle service is available from the airport to the University campus. Regional airline service to the city is provided through Tuscaloosa National Airport.
